“I wept like a child. It was not because I was overcome at having survived my ordeal, though I was. Nor was it the presence of my brothers and sisters, though that too was very moving. I was weeping because Richard Parker had left me so unceremoniously.”
Yann Martel _ Life of Pi

ROTTEN DEATH
I hate farewells, they take a lot out of me, it is a complete array of emotional work. They are so unnatural. They’re much the same as a silent monster that gets pleasure by attacking from inside. The pain of parting from someone, is no doubt, similar to a lurking predator that remains hidden, ready to ambush a vulnerable prey. Goodbyes resemble a small rotten death.

Whit each goodbye, there’s nothing I can do...

Javier Anaya · Falling in Love

“The difference between sex and love is that sex relieves tension and love causes it.”
— Woody Allen

WHAT IS LOVE?
Love is a strange phenomenon that if I try to spell it out it with words, I’d ended up short in my explanation. Obviously, there are different kinds of love and philosophers in the course of history had been able to identify a few. But the question remains in the open… what is Love?

Is it possible to express love with music?, Absolutely, in fact, music allows us to express all kinds of emotions and even though, interpretation of music is a personal matter, composers manage, with impressive accuracy, to pinpoint various feelings

A REAL THING
I can only tell you that when love happens, it happens...

BEFORE WINTER
I’ve always liked Autumn, especially the month of November, which gives us, in the norther hemisphere, a nice break from the intense heat we endured during the long Summer months. What is more, November temperatures gives us a little bit of time to prepare, a warning if you will, before the cold days of winter arrive.

November gives the impression of being an exceptionally random month: It is neither cold nor hot, days are neither long or short; if I presumed to know how to count, November is not the beginning of the year, but not quiet the end. Trees are not fully naked nor they...

“so hot that August comes on not like a month but like an affliction;”
— Joan Didion (Slouching Towards Bethlehem: Essays)

GENTLE GIANT
From my piano room, I am looking out the window, contemplating the tree outside my front yard, the sunlight showers with intense heat the leaves of the tree. The temperature outside, registers an outstanding 104 F degrees. I stared in awe at this gentle giant that provides shade to my house.

It is about three in the afternoon, I know the temperature will continue rise, slowly, perhaps another degree or two, it will remain above the three digits at least till sunset. At this time of year, I’m counting the days up to the time of Autumn, looking and hoping for some heat relief. The...

“The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. The first to forget is the happiest"

I FEEL, I AM
Apologizing, forgiving and forgetting, it seems a lot to ask, doesn’t it?, Sure, chances are, we do not have to do it all at once. It is important to forget, it’s imperative to forgive, but to apologize to someone, it’s for many reasons, an essential part of life.

I feel guilty and I am guilty is not the same, is it? Feeling guilty lingers inside and sucks the very existence out of me, potentially sending me to a mental hospital. Being guilty, only affects me, however, if I humbly recognized the shortcomings of my deeds and feel sorry for the harm I have caused. It is a...

Hello,

CLOSED DOORS
Life is everything but fair, and loves to provide with unwanted surprises. In the year 2020, the big prize was a wide world pandemic that I had to faced alone, fearful with the possibility, if survive, of losing my business. So many unanswered questions floating in the air.

Adjusting to a new way of teaching it has been intimidating to say the least,
since March 2020, I’ve been teaching lessons online. I closed the doors of my home-studio and learned how to do it remotely. I did not have much of a choice, just like millions of people...

SENSE OF FREEDOM
I am trying to remember the last time I visited El Dorado County. Memory is a funny thing, isn’t it?. I cannot remember the year; however, I can remember colors at sunset, I can also remember the flowers on the beautiful hills. The attractive views from all cardinal points used to take my breath away. I can certainly reproduce in my mind the fluffy clouds in the Spring, along with the dramatic contrast of colors in the Fall. The open spaces the County offers, gives you, no doubt, the sense of freedom.

Since the discovery that sparked the California Gold Rush took...

THE IDEA OF TIME
Tabulating time is vastly a extraordinary concept, because, if you think about it, the idea of time only exist in our minds, however, because nature works in cycles, we can take advantage of that movement to organize life’s dealings and measure events from long ago, as well as events we know will happen.

The month of January marks the beginning of our calendar, a time in my life that forces my mind to reflect not only in the past, but also in the future. It is a time for me to evaluate the good, the bad and the ugly.

It is no surprise then, once January arrives, my...

“Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment.”

Hello everyone,

LOUD STATEMENT
Decision making is a daily activity we do, whether we are aware of it or not. Indeed, it could be an automatic motion, or an alert pursuit that requires a mathematical precision and deep reflection. See, making a decision is the same as making a loud statement to the whole world. Yet, some people go to the extent to say: NOT making a decision it’s making a decision. Well, I suppose there is some logic to it.

Decisions can be as “significant” as to the color of an outfit for an important job interview, or as “insignificant” as to choose the flavor of ice cream...

HIDDEN GEM
Some people may think the greater Sacramento area is not a good place to live. I just happen to disagree. It really is all about perspectives, experiences and appreciation. Because its geographic location, Yolo county is, naturally, part of the Sacramento area: Locals and visitors alike, have the opportunity to enjoy a vibrant place, full of many hidden gems waiting to be discover. I’m sure, if you asked, anyone living in the area would agree.

Yolo County, as a whole, is mostly a vast terrain of agricultural activity that according...
