Now all my teachers are dead except silence.
_ W. S. Merwin

PRELUDE OF BAD NEWS
In the world, there are two kinds of people: Those who enjoy silence and embrace it eagarly, and those who fear silence and avoid it at all cost, like the plague. In nature, silence could be reagarding as a prelude of bad news, because complete stillness, presents itself, just right before eminent danger.

Silence can be unsettling in certain situations, for example; When I think of the stillness that dominates the bottom of the ocean, even if the waves were 300 feet high on the surface, amazingly, they would not disturb the untamed quietness of the deep. In the oposite side above us, in outer space, and in all...

There is nothing in the world so much admired as a man who knows how to bear unhappiness with courage. _ Lucius Annaeus Seneca

JOVIAL DEMEANOR
How is it that life manages to inflict pain, with such jovial demeanor, always precisely, at a very inconvenient time? And it doesn’t matter where I turn my attention, there is always things to fix, something to mend, articles to repair, things to restored, details to revise, items to glued, an object to patch, areas to clean, situations to correct, positions to adjust, attitudes to tolerate, status to modify, time to coordinate, circumstances to arrange, conflicts to resolved and ideas to confirm, plans to align, thoughts to sort.

“California: bordering always on the Pacific and sometimes on the ridiculous. So, why do I live here? Because the sun goes down a block from my house.”
— George Carlin

McKINLEYVILLE
For everything that happens in life, there is always a beginning and there is, certainly always, a conclusion. When I moved to Humboldt County_ back in 1998_ to a small town called McKinleyville, it was the beginning of a life full of excitement, there was a new adventure at every corner where, anything and everything could happen.

I was twenty five years old, my body was full of energy and my mind packed with dreams. Although, the fascinating enterprise in Humboldt, sadly, came to an end two years later, it...

“April hath put a spirit of youth in everything. (Sonnet XCVIII)”
― William Shakespeare, Shakespeare’s Sonnets

BACK TO LIFE
What is it about Spring season that appeals so much to me?, Well, for one, I see nature coming back to life: Colorful flowers, the singing of the birds, the fresh warmer air. Perhaps, it is that I get tired of the darkness in winter time. April is such a welcoming month, full of promises.

For all I know, what is attractive to me is to know that, almost imperceptibly, the sun makes its way through and prepares the days to be brighter, longer,
and warmer. The world then, seems refreshed, supplying once again, what nature itself had been consumed.

DARE TO BE HAPPY

“December is the toughest month of the year. Others are July, January, September, April, November, May, March, June, October, August, and February.”
— Mark Twain

ABSTRACT NONSENSE
Mark Twain was on point when he noted, in his typical sarcastic way, that life is difficult. I couldn’t agreed more, and for that reason, if I may, I should add that life does not care, it just goes on. Sometimes, life feels similar to one of those abstract nonsense modern paintings, hanging from a wall of a gallery, without projecting any real meaning nor comfort.

From a very young age, I realized music always came to my rescue, whether it was December or August, January or April. I knew music had the power to...

Once upon a time in Sacramento, the city that puts the gold in the Golden State.

MEMORIES TO HOLD
A lot of things could happen in twenty years, a lot of memories to hold, a lot more to forget. That is how long I lived in Sacramento, and is not that I keep a scrapbook of every event, trying to remember each of them in the years to come, although; it’s probably not a bad idea to have one. Twenty years is a long time, it makes me, all the greater, emotional to write about my beloved Sacramento.

I have always believed that each city in the world has a distinct character, a specific smell, a particular element in the layout of the streets that produces an emotion that enters into the...

“The day and time itself: late afternoon in early February, was there a moment of the year better suited for despair?”
― Alice McDermott

ACROSS THE SKY
I remember playing this piece for a recital, the result wasn’t as good as I’d have loved it to be; because, playing in front of a live audience is ever so intimidating, and notably uncomfortable, at least for me, therefore, things could go wrong, and oh! they did in that occasion. But as a performer, you forgive yourself, and try to forget about it.

For this piece, I chose the key of C major for its accessibility and also, for its happy character. I am presenting the final product, but not before I’ve made some changes in the melody line...

THE POWER OF MUSIC
It has been said, that music has powerful curative properties, but, to know exactly the extent of that claim, would be impossible; however, sounds and specifically music, can improve quality of life, and mitigates symptoms. The healing powers of music, have been well documented since ancient times. Indeed, we need music, wether it will restore our broken bodies or not.

Illness can manifest in the mind or body, everyone is expected to suffer this unnatural phenomenon, in one form or another. The variety of maladies are endless, they can be vicious and attack our bodies...

“We only have two kinds of weather in California, magnificent and unusual.”
– James M Cain

KERN COUNTY
Nature is everywhere and it always manages to make its way through. Even in big industrialize cities, if I stop, take a deep breath and look, I always find some form of nature, weather I see a beautiful bird flying in the sky, or I see a colorful flower on display in a fancy store.

Kern is a central California County just north of Los Angeles, it was founded back in 1866, it is according to surveys, the third biggest county in the state, agriculture is a big part of the grow of their economy, competing with other regions all over the country and the hispanic population is dominant.

OUTSTANDING WORLD
At any given day, I do not have enough time to accomplish everything that I want or need, as a result, often I fret about my time. If you ask me, I’d like to be living in a world where days last 30 hours from dawn to dusk, my weeks would have 10 days, each month would be 40 days long, of course, it means also, that I would get to live for 300 years or more, I would rather more.

The laws in the universe will be bend, modified and stretched, perhaps be re-created to accomplish the sensational results of my outstanding world. I would like to think, as a consequence of this adjustments...
