Javier Anaya · Nice Meeting You

“Your life just got a whole lot more complicated when you met me.”
― Anthony T. Hincks

Hello everyone!

Life’s full of wonderful surprises that can have an emotional impact. Meeting new people, for example, can be surprising, and often leads to unexpected opportunities or a long lasting friendship. Meeting people fulfills one of our most basic psychological needs: The desire for social connection, and what a better way for me to do it than through music.

Opening a piano studio gave me the opportunity to meet, and interact with people with different backgrounds and ages. I did not know it at that time, but having met people with an interest in music, or at least curious about it, had enriched, and transformed...

Javier Anaya · At Last 2

It was love at first sigh, but I didn’t think: you’re the one, Instead I thought: At last!

It appears, as if we’re always waiting for something substantial to take place, wishing for our lives to be meaningful, a wish so very strong, it cannot be by all means, ignored, nor delayed. In small doses, maladies are tolerable; BUT, the act of “waiting” for things to happen, is often seen, as bad as any illness; because, to act patiently, isn’t included in anybody’s DNA paper agreement.

A portion of the population, I am sure, can handle the lack of patience more gracefully than others, I am not one of those, although, I tried. Surely, to be successful on the art of waiting, it clearly depends on the situation I happen to...

Javier Anaya · Bright World

“There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million.”
― Walt Streightiff

READERS OF HEARTS
Children have the advantage, over adults, to not lose any sleep over many things. At any given day, they can be anything they want, and be someone else the next day. Their joyful and curious nature, allows them to be brave. They certainly, can go from smiling, to frowning upon, and back to smiling in three seconds. The innate ability to see the whole world, full of impossible possibilities, enables their imagination to make sense of it.

If you engage in conversation with children, you must know, they are always two steps ahead of you, and can detect “bullshit” a mile away. Indeed, kids do seem...

Javier Anaya · Sunflowers

A simple glance at a sunflower and one realizes, how wonderful life really is.

Hello Everyone,

The summer is almost over, I keep waiting for the temperatures to hit high, but so far, it’s been unusually mild for this time of the year. The hot season lasts for 2.9 months, from June 27 to September 25, with an average daily high temperature above 82°F. This, according to the Weather Channel. If I must compare Sacramento, CA, where I used to live, to Punta Banda where I am now, Punta Banda is a paradise.

Living by the beach it has been a dream come true: Endless walks, starry nights, sighting beautiful sunsets, the constant cool breeze in a sunny day it’s undoubtedly welcoming.

I can certainly say, as a result of my...

Javier Anaya · Clear As Daylight

There are no mysteries, one day, we are the windshield. The next, we are the bug. Or the other way around.

Hello,

Who can tell?. It’s not likely that the answers to the most critical questions in life are, magically at our disposal; advising us what to do at every turn and moment in life. Yet, for the lack of better answers, we’ve fabricated horrible stories, with the exclusively intent to feel ample about ourselves, creatively avoiding, at the same time, taking the responsibility to see life for what it is.

We all know it is much easier, and definitely more fun, to blame others for our shortcomings, perhaps, because it is difficult explaining to ourselves. Let’s be fair, often, we lack the knowledge to understand...

Once again, let’s enjoy life! J. Anaya

ONCE AGAIN
Once again, I have looked into my life, almost as if I am doing a job review of my performance here on earth. What would I leave behind when my time on this planet is over?, is it all worth it?, does anybody care?. I do not know. I’m not a Philosopher, neither I’m a Scientist, nor do I believe in a god I can reach and ask all the important questions.

However, as a musician, I rely on music to keep me sane, grounded, inform, happy and sometimes, a little bit, deliciously sad. It is my wish, someone in the future would benefit from my compositions, It’s my wish, someone could stay afloat in difficult situations when listening to my music, why not?

DANGEROUS BEAUTY

Javier Anaya · Aria

I am the fat lady, and I ain’t singing shit!

Opera Arias should be played at my funeral. Base on my favorite arias to be performed, it could be a long, sad, happy event, full of surprises. Attendees, either will cry their heart out, or will be disgusted by the dramatic display of grief. In any case, I will be long gone to be able to savor the spectacle of all the faces, either smiling or frowning.

Opera could change the way people see the world, and why not?, after all,
going to the opera is an experience larger than life. The first time I heard a Soprano sang an Aria, it appeared to me, as if she had something important, something urgent to communicate and yet, simultaneously unhurried.

She sang in such dignifying way...

Javier Anaya · No Place Like Home

“Be it ever so humble, it’s more than just a place. It’s also an idea—one where the heart is”. Verlyn Klinkenborg

Regardless of what people consider to be their home, it should be the safest place in the whole world, because, if individuals don’t count on some sort of shelter, their lives could become a living hell. I know people would agreed. It is all very simple: Everybody deserves to feel safe and thrive.

Feeling at home is more of a mental state of mind, it has to be, because I’ve heard people saying they feel at home when they are camping, nature thus become their shelter, and that is where they feel at ease. Or, people saying they feel at home living in New York City, which is the complete...

Hello!

There is a music book sitting in my shelf that I have not played in a while. It contains piano sonatas by composers from all over Europe. The title of the book is: Keyboard Sonatas of the Eighteen Century. In the book’s cover it also reads: “Little Known Masterpieces” published by Schirmer’s Library of Musical Classics.

One of the sonatas included in the book, was composed by Manuel Blasco de Nerva, a Spanish musician born in 1750. There is not much information about his life, which by the way, was cut short at the age of thirty four. There are, however, a number of recordings available of his surviving works for the keyboard, which...

Javier Anaya · Let’s Remember

“Real learning comes about when the competitive spirit has ceased.”
― J. Krishnamurti

Hello,

Music is undeniably a universal language, it is found on every corner of the globe, it could easily be the art form most people love, and, because of its accessibility, it is my opinion that, music is also the most bastardise form of art. The interesting thing is, the dynamic of this abused takes place in front of our own very eyes.

Some musicians monetise big sums every year by taking advantage of the many different ways they are allow to operate, whoring themselves doing the impossible to become rich and famous. In the end, music is push aside and after awhile is not about music anymore; the music industry becomes, well, an...
